With the City of Chicago pushing for Green initiatives, we came up with an idea for an application that would help those efforts by visualizing the impact they would have on residents’ every day life. The concept was to take the Unreal game engine and create a 3D map using Google’s Cities in 3D program. This would be combined with existing data on alternative fuel sources that could power office and residential buildings.
By showing building owners what technologies they could have installed on their properties and the amount of money they could save through solar and wind technologies it would create more demand and, as a result, make the city greener.
Coordinating efforts between a 3D artist, a musician and myself I created a video that displayed how the application would work so it could be used as part of the pitch to fund its development.
During this time the City of Chicago was also bidding to host the 2016 Olympics, so the video was adjusted for that effort, as well, showing the various venues that would be used or created for the event.
